Membership

This Code sets out the standards of behaviour expected of Midnight Rogues Burlesque (MRB, also referred to as “the rogues”) Committee leadership team, committee members, paid staff and members.

The aim of the Midnight Rogues Burlesque is to ensure that all members experience dance in a fun, friendly, positive and safe environment. In order to achieve this, please take note of the following rules and regulations.

Rules and Regulations

Member Incidents
Aggressive, abusive or anti-social behaviour is not tolerated from members on the premises or at any time, whether toward MRB members, rehearsal space members, visitors or audience members. Please conduct yourselves in an appropriate manner and respect the MRB members, rehearsal space members, visitors or audience members. All member
incidents will be reported and investigated accordingly. Bullying is not tolerated at MRB.

Any member incident reported to the leadership team may result in their account being suspended, with the possibility of being fully withdrawn from MRB. Serious incidents may result in immediate withdrawal from MRB.

Members may be asked to participate in collective decision making, and will need to be happy to accept a majority decision.

Members will endeavour to work considerately and respectfully with all those they come into contact with through MRB, including, but not restricted to, paid staff, volunteers, stakeholders and other partners. Members will respect diversity, different roles and boundaries, and avoid giving offence. Members must treat each other, committee members, members of staff and others they come into contact with respect and courtesy at all times.

Members may be asked to submit to an enhanced DBS check (if needed for performance reasons). If DBS checks are carried out, members will need to disclose anything in their past which may bring MRB into disrepute.

Punctuality
It is vital that members arrive in good time. Those arriving late for class they may miss important information and impede the learning of others.

Attendance
Regular attendance is extremely important. If members do not attend on a regular basis, then the development of the class and the individual member will be affected.

Changing
Should there be a need to change clothing during the course of their class, this can be done in either the rehearsal space or in the rehearsal space changing rooms or toilets.

Mobile phones
The use of mobile phones for photography or recording during class is strictly prohibited unless used by one of the committee members.

Personal Property
Members should make sure that they keep their valuable personal items with them at all times. MRB cannot be held responsible if items go missing.

Remuneration and fees
As per our Terms and Conditions, fees must be paid on the 1st of every month. Failure to do so may result in withdrawal.

Safeguarding
MRB have a ‘duty’ of care’ to provide a safe environment for and to promote the health and well-being of all members.

Data Protection Policy
MRB members are not at liberty to disclose any information relating to other MRB members. Member information is confidential and retained in accordance with the MRB Privacy Policy.

The MRB’s Privacy Policies are available on request and can be found on the website. Each member will also receive a copy in their welcome pack.

Visual and Social Media
The MRB has and uses their website, social media channels and printed publications for promotional purposes. In the contract you are given the choice to opt in or opt out of photographic or video images. If you choose to opt out, you may be asked to wait for a period of time when photographic or video images are being taken/recorded for purposes of the group or class.

Health and Safety
Members should wear shoes at all times when walking around the building.

It is essential that members are in the right place at the right time – if late for class they may miss vital information, impede the learning of others, and place themselves at risk of injury should they miss the warm-up section of the class.

It is important that members always keep themselves warm between classes in order to protect against injury.

Members should drink plenty of water, and ensure they keep their energy levels up.

Any member who hurts themselves in class or feels unwell should tell the instructor or committee member immediately.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the premises.

Members are not permitted to take alcohol or drugs before or during classes or shows. Members are allowed one celebratory drink before a show if the MRB committee provides this.

Members are not allowed to have more than one drink (as stated above), be intoxicated or over the legal limit of alcohol before or during shows as this invalidates the insurance.

Members should sign in on the register when attending class.

If the fire alarm sounds, members should follow the Health and Safety coordinator to a safe area.
